It took me several days to write this review, seeing as how I’d have to admit to zillions of online strangers how powerful I worship a kid’s cartoon. I stammer I don’t usually examine this stuff! It’s not my fault! I impartial can’t stand any more reality shows!

All good, down to business. Other reviews have covered the basics so I’ll gloss over them fast. Four kids–Clay, Kimiko, Raimundo and Omi–are brought to a temple in China, to state as warriors and locate magical artifacts. These artifacts were de-powered and hidden all over the world thousands of years ago, but are regaining their magical potency one by one. The young warriors must rep them before they tumble into the obnoxious hands. Those hands belong to an noxious boy genius, his nagging ghost mentor, and a host of other enchanting villains.
The artifacts give powers to whoever is holding them at the time, and I have to applaud the creators coming up with such an assortment of pretty things. They can let you talk to animals, stretch yourself like chewing gum, summon a whirlwind, blast fire, or fool with the workings of state and time. Most artifacts require skill and discipline to exhaust correctly. Some give you a unique ability, but rob away one that you already had. Others backfire. A few are too uncertain to be broken-down at all. The characters have to consider about using them; they can’t honest flail them around.

He’s too haphazard–and a bit too nice–to be the immoral genius he wants to be, but when he gets his act together, scrutinize out. He has a petite knowledge, and it’s uncertain.
But Jack Spicer never stops to believe about anything, and this begins and ends with him being chewed out by his ghostly sidekick, Wuya. Wuya is the squidlike, floating spirit of an venerable witch, who has teamed up with Jack Spicer for lack of a better partner. She’s the brains of the outfit, but very mighty hampered by the fact that she’s not solid and can’t do things for herself. She can’t force Spicer to do anything, objective cry and egg him on, and she would clearly like to smack some sense into him.
None of the villains can score along with each other when they team up, and they double-cross, back-bite and dump each other constantly. The importance of compassion and teamwork is drawn clearly here–if you can’t collect a plot to work with others, you’re not going to gather anywhere. And the grand guys also do less-than-admirable things to each other, out of jealousy or madden, with similar results. Unbiased *saying* they’re ‘good’ is not marvelous enough; the heroes have to learn to sprint their talk.
The series explores the conception that humans are neither totally edifying nor totally dreadful, and yes, I know, it’s objective a simplistic cartoon…but the results are gorgeous fascinating. Sure characters noxious the good/evil line in either direction, and demand each other or themselves on their just natures, especially after Volume One. This is the main reason WB needs to advance out with Volume 2 on DVD. Ahem.
You can probably convey that I assume this display goes beyond battles, but the fights are ample too. When two people want to claim the same artifact, a Xiaolin Showdown is declared and the combatants fight using whatever artifacts they already have. But that, to me, isn’t the exciting part; the battlegrounds are. Declaring a Showdown suspends the laws of reality while it’s fought, and everything changes to a surrealistic landscape that never fails to amaze me with it’s sense and creativity. These showdowns pick dwelling in position, in giant pinball machines, in a forest of impossibly huge trees–even a current haystack gets a fever-dream makeover. I admire these sequences and, frankly, always wish that the animation was higher-quality so I could savor it even more.
Well, that’s enough. It’s a really worthy note with heart, brains, humor, a believable theme, magic knowing things and robots and stuff. Hang on for a trustworthy wild perambulate.
I must admit, when i first saw Xiaolin Showdown I couldn’t understand a word. Now it is one of my favorites!! I like how Jack Spicer is gleaming, and yet a fool. Also, I like how Omi can’t talk fair. Next, Clay’s southern accent and metaphors are hilarious! Raimondo I like the most because he is always the one making jokes. And Kimico is a girly-girl, but in battle, she is fierce. Don’t judge this cartoon is all humor, it is also logical. Hold this DVD and discover the indicate on cartoon network!!!

Camera captures verything as staunch and sometimes like a historical documentary that is place in a family’s circle. Overall Blue Kite is a shimmering film and a genuine referance point of the original Chinese cinema. Check it out.
As most other people have commented, the film is about a tragic sage of celebrated Chinese people under Mao’s communism rule. I will focus more on my thoughts about why the film is named “The Blue Kite” as it seems have diminutive relationship with the topic of the film, as especially why there are so many scenes of the blue kite stuck on trees.

The chronicle started when Tietou’s parents got married and a bunch of children chasing a blue kite but it is stuck on the top of tree. One child tries to accumulate it by climbing over the roof. And then cultural revolution started, no one could sprint the political accusation and Tietou’s stepfather became a target of struggle. Finally Tietou lying on the ground, beated up by Red Guards, watching the kite broken in the wind, boring on the treetop. And finally I realized that the kite stands for Hope, people’s hope for a better life.
The kite was stuck several times (apparently due to mistake or accident, certainly having political implication), and Chinese people were forgetful of these events and simply hoping things can pick up better and despite the apparent tragedies, people’s hope is not shattered as the blue kite is aloof intact. People were actually willing to cooperate with all sorts of political movements and hope all the tragedies were caused by themselves. But eventually when cultural revolution broke out and people are brutally beated by Red Guards, hope is shattered, at least in the mind and eyes of Tietou as he saw the broken kite. People are not longer fasinated by political movements and blls**t any more.
The film is certainly bleaker than a similar one called “To Live”. It is certainly understandable since different people endured different harshness under Mao’s rule and some are totally disillusioned by Mao’s communism and acquire tragedies, some actually fancy life more and bag more hopeful.
But this certainly is not a documentary since it only uses the political events as background. It is valueable to be fragment of the learning of original China as it depicts the impact on many people at Mao’s rule and that period of history greatly shapes how original Chinese people judge and behave in many implicit ways.

The Ghost or “Ryeong” is a fresh Korean terror film, piece of the Tartan Asia Obscene line. Min Ji-Won is a student suffering from amnesia. She experienced a traumatic event a year ago and has lost all memories of her past. Something bad happened but everyone around her avoids revealing the details. Min plans to leave her home and go to school far away to try and catch her life abet together. This results in an enraged conflict with her mother who doesn’t want to be left alone and assails Min with a guilt slither. Meanwhile her sometimes boyfriend, Park, does his best to rep Min to carry on with life, but he’s also unwilling to thunder her about her past.
Min has become something of a pariah at school, avoided by her worn friends. When those friends ruin up dying, one by one, apparently of drowning, Min begins experiencing visions and flashbacks. She visits one of her friends who has been hospitalized in a psych ward and she learns about Su-in, who was bullied and humiliated because her family was awful. A shaken Min realizes that she was the ring-leader of her school clique that tormented Su-in, often pretending to be her friend unbiased so they could embarrass her later. A desperate Min tries to unravel the events that led to the tragedy and her loss of memory but Min may not like what she finally uncovers.

The Ghost also gets compared quite a bit to The Ring and yes, we do have that ubiquitous long, sunless haired female ghost out for revenge but that’s where the comparison ends. There’s a distinctly different feel to The Ghost than The Ring and other Asian films. The Ghost really go doesn’t go for the swiftly scares that develop you jump out of your seat, preferring a more cerebral arrive. You mercurial regain yourself caught up in wanting to know what happened to Min a year a go that caused her to loser her memories. The ghost became secondary to Min’s plot.
Ha-Neul Kim as Min draws upon our sympathies for her jam and then promptly turns things upside down when we gain out that Min wasn’t such a nice girl to inaugurate with. The soundtrack reminded me of ragged school dread films that had that pulse-pounding quality to it. I articulate The Ghost could be criticized for being a bit tiresome in spots and it’s a excellent point. On the other hand I appreciated Director Tae-kyeong Kim’s clever residence and character development. Certainly this is a different film than other Asian dread films but give it a chance, I judge you will be surprised.
This Korean panic flick is not very different from some of the other Korean fright movies that have flooded the market recently, but it is serene worth a peep. Yes, there is the familiar long-haired spectre that haunts the victims in this movie, but the station is compelling. It revolves around a college student Ji Won who is suffering from amnesia after a dreadful accident. She sees troubling visions, and then some of the girls she knew from before the accident launch to mysteriously die…i won;t give too great away, but suffice to say that unbiased as you are figuring things out, there is a twist towards the extinguish of the movie appealing the conception of reincarnation & possession. Worth a glimpse for any Asian dismay fan.

I assume I am in league with several other reviewers (but it’s hard to stutter for certain with some of the ALL CAP rants, and abominable spelling!) I esteem The Simpsons, and so far I believe all four of the season box sets, with season 5 pre-ordered. Someone gave me “Gone Wild” for a point to, and always willing to view The Simpsons I popped it in. The DVD starts off with an episode already available on Season 1? I don’t understand why they would include something that has already been released onto another dvd? The other 4 episodes found on this collection are not available in the season box sets…yet, but to be just, I would remarkable rather wait and derive the entire season complete than catch one present on this disk, another explain on another disk etc. Only if you are a die-hard fan of the note and cannot wait for Fox to slowly dole out the remaining seasons would I recommend this dvd.
Let me first say that I am a diehard Simpsons fan and have been watching the expose since their premiere benefit in 1989. Every day, I never miss a single episode because it is very unique and captures the atmosphere to the ways of everday society in a silly arrangement. I’ve bought Seasons 2, 3, & 4 and am patiently waiting for Season 5. Unfortunately, it seems that FOX honest wants to come by more and more of our money by selling THESE! Who wants to see honest RANDOM episodes from numerous different seasons (which is a total mess) when we could secure more of the SEASONS already?! FOX, GIVE US THE SEASON BOXED SETS!!!

I’ve never been able to understand the beef critics had with this movie. Yes, it’s violent. Seeing Madeleine Stowe’s character turned into a heroin-addicted prostitute is hard to explore. But does this originate it a abominable movie? Or is it terrible because Costner’s character seeks revenge, and offs some dreadful guys? I suspect that Stowe’s character’s fate has most to do with why this movie was so broadly panned. Distinguished of this movie is brutal. Is this worse, though, than showing violence that doesn’t seem to distress? Gunfights in which the heroes obtain shot and unbiased shake it off? I don’t deem so. The violence in this movie is brutal because the myth demands it.
There isn’t more to say, probably, than has already been said, but I found the anecdote well-paced, the characters believeable, and the chronicle compelling. The final confrontation was wholly plausible, and the moral denouement for the film: both redemptive and logical given what we know about the characters.
This is a sadly underrated movie, one well-worth seeing.

And that would’ve probably been the destroy of the epic, except Costner had fallen for the lady which has made him lose so noteworthy.
He wants to procure her and he wants to gather in touch with these dirty rats who did this to them. And he goes thru hell and high water to gather to that point.

This isn’t exactly a quick-edit, fire and explosions action flick. It moves dull. In fact, some critics say it moves too monotonous. But mebbe them guys didn’t find it. It’s expressionless and gritty and dusty and muggy and foggy as those days in Mexico can gain. It has some breath taking camera work of the Mexican country side and some equally effective shots of lowlife in Mexican border towns. There are scenes which form you feel like you should obtain up and choose a shower, they are so dilapidated and beefy of sweat. And there is so considerable about honor between men. And dishonor between men.
And, to me that’s the point.
And, like in trusty life, in the demolish, the boy gets the girl, but at a substantial designate.

Susan Cabot, in my conception the greatest and most talented actress of the 1960s B-movies, gives the role of homely Sabra everything she can muster; you’ll be amazed by her performance. A lustrous talent taken from us too soon. And it’s fun seeing Cabot and Barboura Morris together here (Morris plays the dimwit secretary in “The Wasp Woman” with Cabot) .
Definitely a distinguished title for serious B-movie fans.

Not only is this season Widescreen (which the previous six seasons were released in Burly Scrren), I like the mastering of the represent remarkable better as well. I have an HDTV with an HD Up-Convert DVD changer. Compared to the last six seasons, the relate quality of Season Seven is noteworthy better, clearer, and shaper. His films usually have that commercial appeal which is why they have enjoyed more success in most other countries in Asia than in South Korea itself. “City of Violence” is no exception, as with most martial arts films, it may have more “Style over substance” but no one can assert that it is very provocative and quite intense that this film is worth a scrutinize.

A Seoul cop named Taesu (Du-hong Jung, Fighter in the Wind, Arahan) is summoned assist to his hometown to wait on a funeral for an mature high school buddy named Wang Jae. However, “City of Violence” succeeds in the action/fight scenes as well as its visual style that I forgave its shortcomings. The fight scenes (choreographed by Du-Hong, actor who played Taesu) are very well done and limits the spend of wires/CGI. Bloody and hard-hitting, the fights are well-executed that the style has a touch of realism and doesn’t lose its humanity. Camera work gives you an observational perspective, so you can discover all the action. The atmosphere has that “noirish coolness” and coupled with very nifty scenes with the different “themed” gangs (looks like it was modeled after “The Warriors”;ex. Cheerleaders, bikeriders, etc.) And the music at the climax is reminiscent of the Eastwood’s “spaghetti westerns”. All the formulas blend well to give us a very frigid action movie.
I have the 2-disc region-3 edition from CJ entertainment. The presentation is exceptional which is why Korean dvds are expensive. I heard the Dragon Dynasty release will exercise the same transfer and may carry an English dubbed track. (I consume to spy it in new Korean language)
PICTURE/AUDIO: 1.78 anamorphic widescreen. Near-flawless narrate transfer. Vibrant colors, trim and fascinating with strong solid blacks in the scenes where needed. 5.1 Dolby/DTS-ES in Korean, English subtitles are very marvelous. If you’re equipped, DTS track is the scheme to go because it is very noteworthy and crisp. You hear the impact of the punches more clearly.
IN CLOSING:
“City of Violence” may not be wholly modern, but it is proof that a film doesn’t need to be one to bellow an intense and though-provoking experience. It is fast-paced and definitely delivers in the action/fight scenes. It is exactly what action-buffs have clamored for in a long time!

“The City of Violence” is surprisely grand and pays homage to a handful of films and maybe video games. As mighty as I enjoyed this film there is ultimately considerable more slack it is probably definite, but the film leaves no time for the formulate memoir, which may disappoint the one hand, since there are hardly any surprises, at the same time one feels but also helpful hands and can be fully applied to the optical review and musical values of the film.

Like I stated before the venerable point of this film is the sage itself which is told too snappy. Of course, there is also a city gangsters and consequently many situations, with words no longer determined, but hand edges, and billets of action which is exactly why The City of Violence is worth seeing.

The Battle of Britain is one of my popular films. Sizable cast, classic flying scenes and a keen perspective on historical events.
However, I was disappointed with the DVD version. The image quality is tall, but the DVD differs from the VHS version in some notable ways.
First, the DVD version has different subtitles. Some are modified and some are added. If you read all of the newly added (and mostly unnecessary) subtitles, you can’t hold up with the video in some scenes. I don’t impart German, so I can’t say whether the modified subtitles are more apt, but I feel that some of the translations lost their dramatic edge in this release. The DVD producers also chose to overlap subtitles with the record, when, at 2.35:1, there’s plenty of room below the video for the subtitles.

Secondly, on VHS, the movie’s final scene is boosted by Ron Goodwin’s exquisite soundtrack. The DVD version drops the Ron Goodwin track and replaces it with a tiresome allotment that saps the life out of the final scene. This was a major disappointment.
Lastly, impartial before the demolish credits, Winston Churchill’s distinguished quote is replaced with a less valuable one.
Overall, it’s unruffled a enormous movie, but the VHS version was nearly perfect. After waiting years for the DVD version, I’m now left hoping there will be a Special Edition version with the VHS subtitles and soundtrack restored.
At long last fans of this broad production have a DVD that won’t disappoint. Those of us who saw the film when it was released in Theaters to this day, I contain, at every viewing of this movie assume and relive the indispensable impact it had.

O.k…so we have Heinkels and Me 109’s with Merlin engines. Approach on guys! I certainly pick that to CGI planes that don’t even exist. Remember…there’s about as shrimp chance that you’ll ever glimpse a gathering of warbirds like this on film again as there is of the Battle of Britain repeating itself. And the model Stukas? Well, deem about it. Even if there were a few around, which there wasn’t (flyable that is), they wouldn’t be crashing them now would they. No, we’d aloof explore models. Not one proper airplane was destroyed making this film. All were mock-ups or models.
While the adore account addicts are generally happier watching the likes of Pearl Harbor for positive reasons, it must be remembered that films like Battle of Britain and Tora Tora Tora (easily the better Pearl Harbor depiction) are simply intended to deny a sage. A runt bit of documentary? You bet. A tale of which we already know the begining, the middle and the outcome. There are no twists or suprises to be expected. No heroes walking out of the smoke in lifeless motion. The film is about the battle, not the individuals. It’s about the RAF, not the one pilot that flies better than anyone else and has the prettiest girl waiting for him. It’s about the country that against overwhelming odds came through. No. No individual heroes or loves…if that’s what you’re looking for quite simply you are watching the infamous movie. What? Did we stare a review or two that complained of no residence? Geeez Loueeez…don’t recount the Germans. You can converse monkeys to review better than that. Anyway, similarly we have a production that brings us steady Heinkels and 109’s and Spitfires and Hurricanes once again dueling it out over London and Dover…impossible by todays standards for monetary, permitability and aircraft availability reasons, in an almost equally overwhelming anguish as stopping the Luftwaffe. I for one judge the guys responsible for this masterful movie deserve all the credit for laboring and acheiving as salubrious a glimpse benefit at those times as we’re ever likely to accumulate.
It’s interresting to label that it was twenty-nine years seperating the genuine event from the movie. It’s been thirty-six years since the movie premiered. In that thirty-six year period not another film of this genre can near halt. And if we go farther serve into Hollywood history, well there’s loads of AT-6’s and occasional P-43 Lancers painted as Zeros, F-84’s masquerading as Migs…and of course, more recently F-5’s as Migs, and so on. I am grateful for the attention to authenticity that was given to every aspect of this production. Scrutinize the special features disc about how even loyal dock areas of London right estate and airbase hangers were once again destroyed to add even more realism.
And speaking of grateful, THANK YOU MGM for the stout job on this DVD spot. Whatever the reason for the lousy version released a couple of years ago, this anguish is favorable. To those of you who have not seen it yet, rest assured it is support in it’s fresh fabricate…and then some. Subtitles have all been restored, the video is mastered in high definition and the audio greatly displays the wait on of a re-do in 5.1 Dolby Digital. Thankfully, the soundtrack is also returned to the exquisite Ron Goodwin version, with the Sir William Walton come by available as an option. It’s engrossing to hasten the movie with the other bag, but I promise you after about 15 minutes you’ll be switching wait on to Ron Goodwin. However, Sir William Walton is a talented composer in his contain suitable, and while his advance was entirely diferent it is that disagreement that makes his “Battle in the Air” interlude such a striking allotment of the movie. Pilot and aircraft attrition are displayed at the slay as in the current. The subtitles are located in the lower letterbox bar which is spacious, although it may be a minute frustrating for some depending on your television.
